2011 have been very very eventful so far . It began with my best friend’s wedding and then this huge surprise by my cousins – ‘A Euro Trip’.
In between these two memorable events there was a li’l change of tide underneath my own life. Europe with my most loved cousins was definitly very alluring . Initially I was skeptical but there were strong voices around me to just take up ‘Life as It comes’. And soon it was ‘Europe here i come’.
Bangalore ✈ Mumbai ✈ Vienna ✈ Milan✈ That was the schedule..
Things started rolling from Mumbai Airport when a very handsome gentleman came and informed me “Madam your flight is cancelled”. I knew my journey has begun. So there was a slight change and Vienna was replaced by Zurich. With all those rush hours at Zurich airport and with all those panics, I managed to reach Milan on 19th April at 8:30 am. I was welcomed with a warm and a tight hug from my bro.
Milano Magic - Milan was green and peaceful and cozy and very classy. After an awesome Italian lunch cooked by Da, we were all set to rock n roll. One thing that just can’t go out of your mind when you are in Milan is Fashion. Prada, Louis Vuitton, Zara, H&M...it was everywhere and all over. Each and every fashion streets of Milan had something different to say. And then there was the overwhelming and awesome Duomo. I stood awestruck …speechless.
I explored Milan and its beauty for couple of days with Da, he is a superb guide . ‘Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II’ , ‘Teatro alla Scala’ ,‘The Castello Sforzesco’ ,’ Santa Maria delle Grazie’ , ‘The Arch of Peace’… amazing and astonishing .
He took me in and around Milan.
Bergamo - Città alta & Città bassa – The old city is high up the hills and the Modern city at the foothills. It was peace, beauty, leisure and life put together. I loved it. We explored the whole town and every corner of Città alta was picturesque. You could see Città bassa when you take a look down, little more busy with modern constructions and young look.
Doc & Lee - we went to Milano Centrale as Doc and Lee were joining us. The gang completed and the laughter roared high. Since all four were together fun became the default essence. Wrong buttons in lifts, run for the hotel bus, blowing off the circuits etc.. Became part and parcel of our Voyage
J But there was one thing that Da introduced us to “Espresso shots” that kept us awake n alive for long. Then it was time to explore one of the most romantic places as I have heard.

Venice a wonderland - It all came alive from my days of Graduation and Post Graduation. I was there right there where Shakespeare had plotted ‘Merchant of Venice’, the love and literature was in the air. I was living through them with best of the company. As soon as we came out of the station right across were water and gondolas and boats buzzing with crowd. I and Lee were sticking together in the fear to lose each other in the crowd and the beauty. Thrills and madness ran down our spines. We kept our pace up with Doc and Da. It was Venice … and it was our turn to get on a boat to explore Venice and its flooded lanes and head to Murano Island. Murano is highly famous for its glass industry. We went to see those handmade creations, live. They left each and every audience jaw dropped when they made those beautiful glass works. Saint Mark's Basilica and the view of Venice from the Bell tower was unbeatable. We were having our best time together. “Water water everywhere not a drop to drink” – Coleridge’s ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’ was all I could remember in Venice, though we had lot to drink ;)
Leonardo Da Vinci - Doc‘s ‘emotional atyachaar’ got us tickets to experience the famous Leonardo’s ‘The Last Supper’ at Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan. The painting took 20 years for restoration. And now only 20 people are allowed to see the painting at a time, more than that can actually ruin it due to temperature. We were really excited to see the precious pride of Italy. Finally we were there in front of that huge wall with the historic fresco. Every light, every shade, every color was talking to its audience. Last Supper came alive.
High on Alps – Finally it was time for us to check out some snow peaked mountains. Alps calling!! And Swiss chocolates. Bernina Express from Tirano through Alps was definitely exciting. Our Red Chariot was ready to take us through all the colors of Switzerland. Alps left us speechless again. The hugeness..the white …the green water…the deep blue sky and little clouds floating around. We were stuck at our windows. Doc couldn’t stop clicking, me and Lee couldn’t stop posing
J Da was immersed in the beauty.
Zurich- After the exotic Alps we reached Zurich. As soon as we landed Da took us to an awesome place for Seafood and Fish and wine. Lee kept me away from that staring Octopus, but we had some real good food. Full and set to see Zurich life, we checked in the hotel and got ready for nite out. Zurich was comparatively cold, but that didn’t stop us from having fun. Next day was dedicated to Zurich Lake and Bahnhofstrasse. Our ‘masti’ continued on the boat. But soon we had this feeling of parting away and our Euro trip coming to an end soon.
Love Laughter Life and Celebration..these were all with us. We had our moments which we will never forget.. We had our secrets we had our shots. Vacation which was meant to be memorable became forever for us.
P:S This post is dedicated to my closest cousins Doc ,Da and Lee who made this wish come true in my life. **bhabajai**
